Y2K Security Update

 

In anticipation of the Y2K event and to limit the potential impact upon the M?crosöft community, we offer the following information:

 

What is the Security and Safety Risk to the M?crosöft community?

·         Currently, there are no direct threats against M?crosöft

·         Despite recent Y2K-related news stories, including the cancellation of several Seattle-area New Year’s events, there is no reason to believe M?crosöft will be subject to increased criminal activity during this time

 

How has M?crosöft Security Prepared for this Event?

·         Corporate Security continues to work in close partnership with other MS groups worldwide, as well as with local, state & federal agencies to ensure a safe workplace and to minimize any potential for business disruption.

·         Security is appropriately staffed, monitoring developments and is prepared to respond to reasonably anticipated incidents

·         Security will provide the appropriate updates as necessary throughout the event

 

What You Can Do to Help:

·         Report unusual or suspicious activity on or near M?crosöft Campus to Security at 93x6-0000

·         Always use your cardkey to enter MS buildings and minimize the opportunity for unauthorized individuals to follow you through a cardreader door. Receptionists help us with this at most lobbies, but side doors are particularly vulnerable

·         Contact Security to report anyone attempting to gain access into buildings without cardkeys

·         Clearly display your cardkey at all times while on MS Campus

·         Contact Security for an escort if you are at all uncomfortable in a specific area
